It's also good to know when and where bargains are to
be had. Occasionally the large grocery discount
warehouses do bring in loads of good quality
watermelon or peaches or something else at really
cheap prices. Even some of the higher end grocers do
this. For example, one of the main independent grocers
in Sonoma, CA is very upscale with very high prices
for many items, but a week ago they had a huge lot of
blueberries that were the cheapest I've ever seen in
California. They had just been picked locally. It was
a great price on a high quality fresh product. At the
same time you couldn't even find blueberries at most
local chain markets and the blueberries at Wholefoods
in Sacramento, which weren't even as good as the
Sonoma blueberries, required a mortgage they were so
expensive.
