They are pleasant, but they don't have acid. The flavor isn't tomato, but you can tell they are in that family. I've never made preserves because I don't make preserves. The main trouble with Wonderberries is that between the small size of the berries and the juiciness, they are terribly tedious to pick in quantity and clean for processing. You wind up with a bowl of juice that has a lot of debris in it. I just keep a few around to nibble. Even ground cherries (Physalis) are a lot easier to work with. If wonderberries were larger, they might be easier to work with.

<x-tad-bigger>Thanks for posting this. Are they just sweet? Any richness, complexity, or tartness? Did you make any preserves with them? I had not given these a try in case they were garden-yuckleberry-like. </x-tad-bigger>

I have some Solanum burbankii, the Wonderberry, that is pleasantly sweet to eat fresh, but it's messy to handle because the berries are soft and juice a lot when picked. It self-seeds quite a bit and the seedlings regularly come up early and they take a surprising amount of frost. I have a lot of them already over 6 inches tall. They would be larger if they weren't crowded.
