Hi,

I have a collection tree of crabapples in the front lawn.  Some branches with bronze leaves and red flowers (Baskatong) and branches with green leaves and white flowers (Alexis).  I grafted it myself using an Antonovka seedling for rootstock (non dwarfing).

Baskatong; Purple leaves that change to bronze with maturity.

Buds dark purplish-red open light purple red with white claw,

1 3/4” dia. Dark purplish-red 1” fruit.  Very disease resistant

Alexis; An early crabapple of Russian origin, similar to Dolgo

although a little earlier. Extreme winter hardiness, small dark

red crabapples in August for preserves. An early bloomer useful

for pollinating the earliest blooming apples or other crabs. Zone 3

It will be a fruiting conversation piece if nothing else.

Later,

Tom
