Has anyone else experienced severe fireblight on Redfree? It looks as though almost all tips are dying from what I must assume is fireblight, though it may be that other disease that mimics it.

The local nurseryman warned me that apples and cedars "co-host."  I nodded and took it to mean that they harbor mutually antagonistic organisms, but that was just my guess.

My understanding is CAR over-winters on cedar and the reproductive spores develop in an organism of which I don't know the name. But it appears on the cedar trees very early spring as an orange jelly type organism with tentacles. They are kinda pretty almost like an orange flower and easly seen. I'm sure some where on the net pictures of it can be found. Their removal before maturity can help control CAR. Better to remove the red cedar trees breaking the apple to cedar and back again cycle. I realize some areas that is impossible due to the density of cedar populations on other's properties.
