In south coastal B.C., it is imperative that you choose pollenizers carefully.

In 2004, my first apple/crabapple blossoms opened April 8 (Chestnut) and my
last
blossoms were open on May 6 - that's a total of 28 days.

Assuming it will rain or be too cold and windy for the bees on at least two
of the
days when the blossoms are open, the closer the bloom periods, the better.

It depends on the variety and the weather, but most apples are in bloom for
about
7-9 days in south coastal B.C.

: Not just the East; most places, most apples will pollinate most others...
: you can see that on the pollination charts - many open boxes for
: pollination-compatible varieties, and a few marked 'X' for triploids, poor
: pollinators, and the rare pair of apples that are just out of sync.
