A good cover crop that smothers weeds is Subterranean clover. Either plant
it around trees or as a cover in a garden bed in the fall. In the spring
about the time it flowers, cut the clover with an electric or gas weed
trimmer or a scythe--as close to the ground as you can. The cut duff
suppresses weeds nearly 100 percent. Peaceful Valley and Adams-Briscoe
www.abseed.com carry the seeds.
