I grow yellow alpine strawberries, from seeds I think I bought from the now
departed Flowery Branch Co. close to ten years ago. The plants need little
attention and, as with other yellow berries, birds don't notice them. They
taste like wild stawberries, with some pineapplish aroma and flavor too.

There was some discussion of this sometime ago, I think that the rooting
material was a liquid maybe "dip and grow"

Here we bury water lines 8' down. While having the trench dug out of our
pure clay, there were, amazingly, tree roots down there. If the antifreeze
quality of cells works into the minus 0 range, perhaps water can be pulled
up from deep down? Or is that the 'free water' that drys up in dormancy?

The antifreeze effect within the CELLS is only worth two degrees extra of
cold hardiness. The antifreeze effect of the SAP is a different matter and
allows the fluid sap to flow albeit much more slowly the colder it gets.
Soil temps don't get near as cold as air temps as you know, its said that
antonovka won't take any colder than 14 degrees.
