Mark,
We tried them a couple of times here but they eventually died. I think
the main problem was fungus which attacked the foliage and sometimes
branches in summer. Just a little too humid here.
I've seen them and eaten them in Turkey at fruit markets. Usually they
sell them dried, in the kind of date like form. They are pretty dusty dry
for my taste. But the small tree is attractive and the fragrance
extraordinary. Legend has it that the sultans locked up their wives when
this plant came into bloom because the fragrance drove them wild. Well, it
smelled very good, but I was not troubled by any craziness nor were any
women here.
