I talked with Brian Adams at GEMA 478 993-4618 If you call him he will explain what the SAR licensing requirements are in GA. MSAR may be something not well defined yet. So let us know. With GA SAR K9s they must be licensed as a handler-K9 team. If one handler works three K9s they will require 3 licenses. It will be interesting to see if that holds with riders & multiple mounts. Let us know what you find out. Is this type "licensing" coming to other states? Is it a good or bad thing?

Georgia Emergency Management Agency (http://www.gema.state.ga.us/\) has
a series of Field Delivered Program Courses, where they train on request
at a location near you. The course most relevant to SAR is this one:

>Rescue Specialist: A 14-hour course designed to train rescue personnel
>in the basics of rescue techniques. The course covers unit organization,
>search and rescue techniques (ground and water), map and compass
>reading, and basic rope tying and knots.
>Approved by POST, EMS and Georgia Firefighters Standards and Training
>Council for continuing education credit hours.
>
>Who Should Attend: Individuals who wish to qualify for membership in a
>legally established rescue organization or members of an emergency
>services organization who wish to enhance their search and rescue
>techniques.

Hope this helps,
