Nope, it’s not a Serrano type at all. Serrano are much smaller, bullet shaped, and have a much different flavor. What I have noticed, and the pix from Fedco mimics, is that the peppers are punt when the plant is not well fed and is left to its own devices. Still produces
a large amount of fruit, just much smaller in size, with a pronounced curl. When the bushes get plenty of nutrition and water they set larger fruit that is conical in shape like the long hots and a lot straighter. This Danish site shows something closer to what we get from the plants:

On Behalf Of Road's End Farm Isn't Fish a Serrano type? http://www.fedcoseeds.com/seeds/search.php?item=3781&index=13&listname=Hot%20Pepper&page=1 There might, of course, be more than one chile called Fish. But if it's the one in the link, I doubt anybody would describe it as a long type; serranos are only a couple of inches long. -- Rivka; Finger Lakes NY, Zone 5 mostly Fresh-market organic produce, small scale On Dec 9, 2011, at 12:57 PM, Halstead, Kate wrote:

cool, wet summers; likely astounding elsewhere.. An heirloom from Africa called 'Fish", the plants and immature peppers are variegated beautifully. Leaves have irregular white blotches, and the peppers have white/green candy-cane stripes until they mature
to a beautiful cone-shaped solid red pepper that has a nice heat for a wide variety of cuisines. Good fresh and they dry nicely as well. Astounding yield from medium-small plants. Listed in the Slow Food Ark of Taste. |
