That is consistent with my experience with deer. Light populations are
controlled with strategies that fail as populations become more intense and
food availability declines. You have to match your strategy to the ecosystem
you're working with. The deer have feeding strategies that are driven by
resource availability.

Vern,
Pike County, MO has one of the highest concentrations of deer in Missouri.
Planskydd was not effective for us.
The only effective thing we've found is having a dog, a BIG black Lab that
makes the rounds around our 10 acres. For areas where we notice heavy dear
pressure we stake the dog with food, water and his plastic house for 3-4
days. That keeps them away for 3-4 weeks. He also does a fine job of
dispatching moles and groundhogs.
Last winter the local dept of conservation officer gave us a nuisance permit
to remove 10 does. It was explained that the doe "pattern" or train their
young that your property is a "food plot". Thus the cycle continues.
