We are growing husk cherries. About 20 plants total from seed/transplant. We placed them on black landscaping fabric which does an excellent job protecting the fruit when it drops. The husks are pale and thus contrast nicely as we sweep them from underneath the plants. We currently have two restaurants that are asking for them. We planted ours late so we are now just getting into large enough quantities to supply pounds to chefs. We charge 3.50 per pound and everyone seems cool with it. We could probably charge more since we seem to be the only ones currently selling them to chefs here but I know of at least two or three other growers that sell them at market.
