- Subject: [Market-farming] Variety observations/Shallots
- Date: Tue, 17 Aug 2010 13:12:10 -0400
In the spirit of the original post I will ad to the
subject line and then
do a short rave about Prisma Shallots, from
Fedco.
My experience in
both kitchen and garden had been shallots more like garlic
bulbs in shape and
structure. Not Prisma, grown along with the other seed
onions these things
are the size of apples, some single, others with 2 and 3
sections
There is (as of Aug 17, 2010 ) a box of about 5 lbs
left down cellar, brought
in there last November, after drying some in the greenhouse. They have
been in the section
with the clothes lines, kept about 60F most of the winter,
a bit warmer this summer, and dry as
dust.
