I’ve been doing Agribusiness classes through the local community college (Colorado) and the first year they required that you purchase an accounting program called Perceptions – supposed to be farm-tailored or this version was. I have to say it was not at all user friendly though – pain in the neck!!.  I went back to Quicken for my checking and then export to Excel and manipulate/sort there.
Then I started using QuickBooks for a group of farms that sell collectively and I love it!

Lynn, one way to email reports is to print them into a .PDF file format, then attach the .PDF file to the email.

I have to say that’s one thing I don’t like about Quickbooks – when you email directly out of the program there doesn’t seem to be any record of that. I couldn’t find anything in QuickBooks and it certainly didn’t show up in Outlook.

One other advantage to sending an invoice in a .PDF file is that it can’t be altered. We were using a third party for deliveries to restaurants and weren’t sure we wanted to send invoices in Excel.  With .PDF it can’t be changed but they can print it.

This is my first year, and I am using Quickbooks-the simple start free version-the only problem I had with it, was I couldn't find anywhere that let me email copies of my financial reports-the "HELP" said to click on the mail button, but there was no such thing-at least that I could see? Does anyone have the answer to this?

Also, I am located in SouthEastern Ohio-at our Adult tech training/career center, we have a farm advisor that has a software package that he shares/sells to our county farmers, and then he helps us fill it out each year-it's not free, but they also teach classes on how to do it that is included in the cost-don't know if other counties do this or not....I think it is in conjuction with farm bureau and possibly extension.

thanks,
