The fence was converted to double in 2003 and has worked well for me since then. Cost to convert a barbed wire fence was a bit less than $1/foot, as I recall. That includes labor; I had a contractor put it up.

There is significance to the photos of the pea crop. Without the fence there would be NO pea crop. In 2002, I had a very good looking pea crop and did not pick a single pea; deer ate then all. Since 2003, I've had annual pea crops with little to no deer depredation.
