try spray adhesive. . . kind of works. at least for a bit. you need a
good deal of overlap to keep wind from working it apart again. 3m and
duro make the stuff. i prefer the duro. spray both sides of the tear
liberally. . . allow it to dry, and press them together. it isn't
great, but there might be something better out there.

if it wasn't such a pain when deer get into the stuff it would be kind
of funny to watch. i imagine that between the hoops and cloth they have
no idea what's going on and basically start dancing on the covered
area. i've had 30+ holes in one night from them.
