I wish I could offer some help but tomatillos at my place in NW Ohio are pretty much a plant it and forget it trouble free crop. I don't do anything special, just try to keep them ahead of the weeds. This year they are right next to my tomatoes and I am getting my best crop yet. My seed this year came from Baker creek, it is the same variety, toma verde, but the plants are bigger, more fruitful , and the fruit are more than twice as big as what I have gotten in the past from other sources.
