The Stihl SR420 motorized backpak mistblower has an attachment for dusts. To
my
knowledge its the only duster around since dusters went the way of the rotary
telephone etc. I have one of the older Stihl mistblowers and have used it for
dusts in the past and it seemed to work well. I don't think you would have a
problem applying DE with it. The airblast applicator penetrates foliage easily
and gets the stuff to where the bugs are hiding. I have a nice old backpak
manual duster I found in the back of an old feed store still in the box from
the 1940's that also does a nice job applying DE you often find these at farm
auctions still filled with 1950 vintage DDT..
You can spray DE mixed with water but it needs a lot of strong agitation to
keep it in suspension it will eat up your pump if its a roller type in one
season, I had to replace rollers every season when I used to spray Cryolite, I
think DE would be the same. Today I prefer a piston type pump which handles
DE without harm... Bob.
