Good for you Liz! :-)))

Although I inheirited my Dad's Ford Jubilee :-) and she'll have a home with
us forever, for years, I have been working on my husband for horse power.
He was a working cowboy when I met him...injured and layed up and had been
working in a saddleshop for the duration of his injuries. He is not too
keen on the work involved with a team again. (only because of the amount of
work and time) He tells great stories of working teams .. Some outfits he
worked on would get such deep snow in the winter they had to use teams to
feed because 4 X 4 was not reliable enough :-) He has such respect and love
for the equine world, I know the more I work on him, the softer he'll
become.. those hard working days will be a dim memory... <EG>

Before, during and after I worked for the USFS in the Big Horns of Wyoming..
A feller named Swede had a large team of Norwegian Fiords he worked the
Forest with.. I had the pleasure of meeting them several times on the
trails. Those horses knew hard work and they loved it!

I have friends with teams..both large draft and smaller riding horses..one
friend with a team of Shetlands. There are several folks in our area that
use draft teams for working.

My 11 yo dd just sold her buckskin overo paint pony mare..and bought another
horse. This time a finished reining horse <sigh>..the lady that bought her
pony is using her for a cart pony. She is so cute showing off her new cart.

I have a couple two year-old paint half-sisters, purchased when they were
weanlings with the thought of a buggy team in (my, not dh's) mind <g> ...
prolly be years down the road when we can afford that route. For now, our
horses are all ranch hands.

I've been working this cowboy for several years to get back into a work
team... he's getting more and more soft perhaps someday we'll be back into
bighorse power ... for now, Liz, I'll be rootin' for you.
