When you germinate peppers on a heat mat you have about 10 days to two weeks
before they come up. I take advantage of that time by placing my tomato trays
on top of the pepper trays and heat two layers at the same time. Tomatoes
always come up in 4-8 days well ahead of peppers. I have even placed a third
layer over the tomatoes of cole plants or marigolds that germ in two to four
days just ahead of tomatoes. Since peppers need more heat than tomatoes and
cole seed needs no more than 60 degrees it all works out well.. Just watch
out for mice...Bob.
