I share your feelings about this, 100%.

And I realize that this isn't a solution for everyone, it
involves more time and labor than a lot of people have for
it, but I do want to let you know that you can buy non-GMO
soybeans and make your own soymilk, tofu, and tempeh from
them, just in case you would want to try this.

I'm currently buying them here, directly from the grower:

I've also now located a source of organic, non-GMO soybeans
more local to me (Pennsylvania). I'll be buying them there
in future, both because I like to buy more locally whenever
I can, and to save on shipping costs.

I have a soymilk maker - making soymilk with it is very fast
and easy, and making tofu isn't bad either. Making the
soymilk is the really labor-intensive part of making tofu,
and now the machine does this part of the work.

We have just put together a tempeh incubator and I've
ordered the tempeh starter but not yet made tempeh. I will
be making it very soon.
