Bill, I hope you have better luck than I had. I experimented with plain
plastic to solarize an area for new beds. I'd planned on leaving it down
for 6 weeks. It started to break down at 5 weeks and by the 6th it had
deteriorated so bad I couldn't believe the mess it left behind. It took
forever to rake up the pieces (kept having to redo the plot over and over
because pieces would magically appear.) I finally decided to grow just
flowers in that plot, no edible crops. Not sure, but the high temps (high
90's) and high humidity may have speeded up the process. Farmed it for 4
years, and still found bits and pieces every so often.
