>I suspect you're just seeing cold temps slow the plants down. In the case of the peas, they're shifting into an overwintering stage and won't flower until they're exposed to warmer temps. Think of temperature as an accelerator for plant growth. If you can do something to expose the plants to warmer temps, at least during the day when the sun is shining, the plant will make daily, cumulative gains that will get you to harvest quicker.
