Julie,
Our market always drops off after school starts. We figure it's because
there are so many activities for kids on Saturdays that something "has to
give". Most of the regulars that are of an age to be "beyond kids", still
come. This year, we have kept our sales up because our email marketing is
still bringing people to the market to pick up their orders, and they
invariably buy more once they are there. But, the crowds are definitely
down. This past Saturday was excruciatingly slow. We have been talking
about growing specialty fall items - mums, corn shocks, gourds, etc. - but
aren't sure that there is enough of a crowd after the first of August to
support that. And, our Tuesday market, which is slow even during the
summer, becomes almost non-existent - not worth the drive or the time.

We don't have any suggestions - it's a time issue. Thank goodness for our
email marketing.
