I was in the 1st grade (Mrs. Dougherty). She started
crying when Kennedy's death was announced and we were all sent
home.
Don't really remember our first TV but I do recall that we had
to go to bed after the Huntley-Brinkley news report. I hated that in the
summer.
My dad never encouraged us to watch TV. We would try to
watch all the cartoons we could before he got up on Saturday. He worked
the evening shift. As soon as he got up he'd flip off the TV and say,
"there's work to be done". He hated the 3 Stooges. I loved
them.
We got our first color TV when I was in the 4th grade.
It had a semi-round tube and I ended up with it when I got married. It
finally died in 1984. So I guess it was a good TV.
Never watched little lulu but do remember Get Smart. I
thought it was a stupid show (no offense to anyone here). Like I said, we
weren't aloud to watch TV too much growing up. It probably made me into a
reader. I read everything. Especially cereal boxes.
