Goldfish will eat any thing they can swallow. They may not eat if the first time you put it in if they are not hungry but wait and they will eat it.

OK, good to know about them not eating the BSF larvae, will be building the BSF biocomposter soon. I have only 12 goldfish left (out of the 90) I started with. I went against my better judgement and put them in with the tilapia at first because someone told me it would be fine. There was too big of a difference in size.
I was thinking the other day that I want more goldfish instead since I remember seeing them living under ice when I was young and I won't have to worry about this cold weather. So far the burlap has been working to insulate the tanks, but it's stressful on them.

We raise goldfish instead of tilipia since we eat little fish. Goldfish tend to consume duckweed and not the BSF larvae. The chickens love them though.

Black Soldier Fly larvae is something I am also working on incorporating into having as a feed as well. Extremely nutritious as well as the duckweed.

We feed duckweed which not only grows in adjacent tanks of the aquaponic system but in the effluent from the methane  biodigestor. Duckweed can be fed to all livestock except horses. We have fed it to rabbits, fish, chickens, pigs, geese and goats.
