An old and entirely trusted friend writes:

I discovered this monster yesterday on AM radio on my way home from work. It calls for $500 registration fee and $95/hour fee paid to FDA inspectors (to insure fed stds are being met) for home gardens, small organic gardening and farms and similar operations, ranches, chicken egg producers, et al. In other words, it will effectively (due to its lame vague language) serve to eliminate all farming and food-producing entities except the ConAgras and force the food industry into bankruptcy just as with the health care, auto, banking, and stock market. When the food industry comes under gov't control, they will have us for sure. I had my classes today phone Sr. Richard Burr (that asshole co-sponsored the legislation) and Sr. Kay Hagan to complain and to state that if they voted for this bill, we would work to insure that they were never to serve in Congress or another public office again.

The underlying philosophy, of course, of this bill is to "protect America's food supply." Like it isn't already polluted !! Guess who's the main sponsor and lobbyist for this bill? MONSANTO !! That, in itself, tells a lot. In fact, the wording requires anyone who has a garden (even for a small family one) to use certain pesticides and to keep a database of all ingredients put into soil, on plants, etc., in order to be in compliance with fed stds. If this is such a critical bill, then why is it scheduled for a Senate vote this week ??!! The house has already passed it !! The people are gittin' steamed !!
