I like Sally Fallon's book too, except for one glaring silliness. She claims that it's "natural" for cows to eat feed with cow guts/brains in it, since when they are grazing, there are insects among the grass, and they probably ingest those insects, right? Ergo, cows are omnivores. This of course ignores the distinction between carnivores and insectivores.

Mastering food "processing" is almost as important as producing it in the first place. I gave my daughter a choice -- help me in the garden, or do the canning/pickling/drying/cooking part of it. She went for the indoor jobs. Fine with me. by the way, I like "Wild Fermentation" by Sandor Ellix Katz.

Mitch,

I have had Nourishing Traditions for several years now. I think I bought
one sometime in 2000. It is not a book about becoming a vegetarian. It
is about "real" food and what is known as slow food. We started kefiring
and drinking raw milk as well as other diet changes. I actually sat down
and read the book cover to cover when I bought it and have been dipping
into sections at a time ever since as we change the way we eat and
prepare our food.

I highly recommend it to anyone. I learned more about fats, carbs, and
food additives.

Blessings,
Deborah
