I think the farm spraying here is what is killing off the most of the bugs.
The spray rigs are pulled by tractors and sprays about a 40' wide path at a
pass.A lot of the poison they use comes in a concentrated liquid form. Some
of it just a single drop of the concentrate on your skin will kill you stone
dead. All the greens they raise here is what requires most of the spray.
Most other bugs that will harm other crops are long gone but there is still
a big problem with aphids in the greens.

This spray on crops will kill rabbits and other small animals just as quick
as it will the bugs if they try to eat the crop. You also see very few birds
in the farm area. Bugs are a big part of their diet so if there is nothing
for them to eat they won't stay around. Any ecosystem that ever was in that
area is just about all gone.
