Part of a chickens job is keeping the place de-bugged but the bugs and worms
your chickens will normally eat are one thing and maggots are something
else. Would you toss what the maggots eat into your chicken pen and let your
chickens eat it? I wouldn't. Chickens are filthy creatures at best but what
you feed them makes a lot of difference in what is contained in their meat
and eggs.

When I was able to keep chickens I never fed my mature chickens anything by
grain, table scraps (no meat) grass and tender weeds. A lot of stuff from
the garden went into the chicken pen. I much prefer white rabbit over
chicken. It is a much healthier meat to eat and a whole lot cleaner.
