As my op-ed piece indicated, it's because of the existing power of lobby
groups to command attention of the market forces through government subsidies.

And in keeping this thread relevant to this group, I've got to say that the
primary driver has been big AG, specifically those folks dealing in corn
(such as ADM and Conagra).

No other form of energy is likey to be as disruptive of food production and
soil quality than biomass-derived fuels.

I'm all for decentralizing of EVERYTHING, but while energy is still in
abundance we're not going to see this. Let's just hope that we can protect
our cropland (any land really) until such time that it's fully under local
control.
