Yes! How weird I was about to post and say I've had a general rise in the
number of calls from places like Hilton Resorts and such, places that want
me to go on vacation. I can only assume they have vacancies because it's so
expensive to travel.
Though after my camping trip to Western North Carolina this weekend, even
"local" type vacations hurt when gas is 3.89-3.99/gal for regular unleaded
(3.99 being Asheville).
Strangely enough I'm taking 4 days vacation at Disney before Tech-Ed in two
weeks and I note they are bombarding me with Disney special vacation getaway
offer emails as well, unfortunately AFTER I already scheduled everything.
That's the kind of thing that annoys the crap out of me, on a side note.
Similarly, I've been a subscriber to Entertainment Weekly since it started
publishing, and I STILL get stupid letters while I've got 2 years to go on
my subscription saying "renew now!" and I just.. get so steamed by that.
Their computer OUGHT to see that kind of stuff and bypass killing the tree
for my letter.
Lyman

I don't know that my phone's been ringing any more often, but I do think
it's notable that lots of vacation destinations have vacancies this
summer, and are running specials like crazy. Like, oh, Vegas.
