When we first bought our house, we had a T in our galvanized threaded
plumbing that leaked. The $.50 part required us to rip out walls to work
back to the T to do the repair. Instead, I put a bucket downstairs in the
dining room to catch the drops for the next year.

Then, the 4" cast iron drain in the basement burst. I don't put up with
crap in the basement. We took the walls off down to the studs and replaced
100% plumbing and electrical.

We used Qwest/Pex for plumbing and paid $3000 for the labor if my memory
serves me well. While we were at it, we added a bathroom and Jacuzzi.

That price is 8 or 9 years old yet might at least give you a data point. I
can't recommend that plumber, though. Suffice it to say there were "issues"
that never got resolved.

Regards,

Jim
