I started with the Treos with the 600 (and am currently considering a 650)
and had a co-worker who had a 300 and an ex-girlfriend with a 270. I was not
impressed with the cheap plasticy feel of the 270/300 and am not surprised
that the cover would snap off. I can personally vouch that the 600/650 is
infinitely more solid than the earlier models and the 600/650 feels almost
jewel-like to the same extent that the 270/300 feels cheap and plasticy.
With my less than perfectly gentle treatment of my 600 I have never had
problems with things snapping, falling off or breaking. It is also
significantly more scratch resistant than my iPod, but that is a whole
different story. Give the Treo another try; I think you will be pleasantly
surprised.

I was an early adopter of the Treo. When the 300 came out for sprint I
dropped the $599 on one.

I hate Treo's now. Not the OS, the manufacturing of the Treo's.
Cheap, Cheap, Cheap. Maybe they've improved it some but things snapped
off with regular use. They got rid of the flip open thing because
it'd snap off like clock work every few months when you flipped it open
so now you have a big nice LCD sticking out.

Also they seem to have lots of features on them, but the carriers seem
to be 'hobbling' them per engadget and other sites.

That being said I have a co-worker or two that have the 600s and 650s
and they swear by em. Might be just me.
