Most of these require a bit more analysis than is typically found on an email list, especially post-election. And there are certainly more, ah, *nuanced* analyses of both the stealing-my-rights and force-for-good arguments, pro and con, for liberal and conservative impacts on American political history.

But this one's pretty easy:

- Telling you that you can't own slaves anymore.

It was actually a bunch of right-wing religious Republicans who were the big advocates for ending slavery.

Just one of the many ironies in modern American political discourse.
