Actually German U-boats did indeed attack and sink US boats w/ loss of life prior to Pearl Harbor. I guess there is no need to dispell some of the other non-facts...

These weren't really that significant (see timeline at http://www.worldwar-2.net/timelines/war-at-sea/atlantic/battle-of-the- atlantic-index-1941.htm ).

Germany declaring war on the US on the 14th was slightly more significant...
