Oh yeah, the military doctors are all about some practice because there is
no malpractice. The Navy dentist that removed all my molars (required for
submariners circa 1985) did the job in under 15 minutes with little time
wasted administering any kind of pain relief. Two had to be shattered then
extracted. He did manage to throw a few stitches in the back of my tongue,
which he nearly lopped off, neglecting to tell me of course. I found out
later when what little Novocain he did use, which seemed to only work on my
tongue, wore off and I felt the loose ends of the stitches hitting the back
of my throat. I still remember the look on the next guy's face in line when
the dentist muttered an apathetic "Next..." while I exited the chair, wiping
the blood off my face.

If I wasn't too old I'd reenlist and get my teeth straightened for "free"
now that they've all gapped from the free space in the back ;-)
