the best thing is, IMHO, the coexistence between the command line and GUI and GUI-ish Apple software...namely, AppleScript, and through it just about everything Apple makes. I can ssh in and through the "osascript" command, issue AppleScript commands to do various useful and useless things (like make the computer talk >:) )

i think that the existence of a command line doesn't make a good GUI impossible at all....

if memory serves me right, there was even a /. story a while back about command lines being easier for completely new users to learn than GUIs
