Perhaps a nice bowl of grits should be depcited on our license plates. I
think something needs to be done to champion The Grit after bad press like
this...

"Woman suffers burns, stab wounds

RALEIGH -- A Raleigh woman suffered a punctured liver and second-degree burns
when she was stabbed and hot grits were thrown in her face as she lay in bed
Saturday morning, police said.

Tonya Evette Turner of 808 N. Blount St., Apt. 13, was taken to WakeMed for
treatment of burns on her face and neck, a stab wound and cuts near her eye
and left thumb, according to police. She was released from the hospital
Sunday.

Demetra Mae Staton, 38, of the same address was charged with assault with a
deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. She was in the Wake County jail
Sunday night in lieu of $50,000 bail."

I highly recommend Doc's ProPlugs. http://www.proplugs.com/

They are designed for musicians :-) & surfers, with vented & non-vented
styles. They come in sizes, and you have to be "fitted" (really, just
comparing your ear to a sizing card) to get the right size for you. I've
never had a pair that was flat-out uncomfortable - I suspect if they
tried to come out or *were* uncomfortable, you got the wrong size. They
"mold" into the folds of your ear, using its natural curvature to secure
the plug.

You can be fitted and buy a pair for $8 (I think) at 2112 Percussion
just off Wake Forest on Whitaker Mill, near 5 points. I wear mine on
airplanes all the time, it's soooo much nicer. Plus, with the Doc's
plugs, you can still understand the flight attendant. :-)

Ok, dumb question number next (I am chock full of them it seems):

What earplugs work? I've tried those little fluorescent orange or
yellow squishy ones you can get at the Cradle or Eckerds, but they don't
seem to stay in my ears well. I assume I'm using them correctly...
squish up and stick in ear (doesn't seem too tricky, but...).

Anyone like the ones that sort of resemble a drill bit (or one of the
good drywall anchors)?

Other recommendations?

(I do think I have sensitive ears... I can't wear the "earbud"
headphones at all -- OWIE!

Thanks,
