Hey all,

I'm a local and a lurker who is out of the job market and back in grad school
at UNC's School of Information and Library Science. So far it has been one of
the best decisions I've ever made. But now I'm faced with another opportunity,
and I feel like there are a lot of you out there that may want to weigh in on
this, or may have insight into my question. Which is:

How much value is there in getting an MBA as an adjunct to my MSIS?

The MBA/MSIS is a dual degree, which means I get them both in 3 years. It also
means I pay only 3 semesters of business school tuition. I've got some
rationalizations about why I'd get it, but I want to see if they match up with
industry wide sentiment.

The important reasons for getting an MBA are
1) the management training - if I choose to work in a startup (likely) the
perspective I get with my MBA will help me manage projects. I could also
develop this on my own over the course of working.
2) the network and contacts of people I will meet at business school.
3) the combination of information theory and information management that I
cannot get out of either school individually.
4) and, of course, the money.

Where do you sit on this question?

Thanks,
Jesse
