There is only one brand of 4point safety harnesses that are DOT legal
(sorry, forget which). Basically the racing industry has a better
safety harness system than any combo of standard 3point and all the
airbags (dual front/shoulder/side/curtain/waist/envelope) in the world,
but they are not DOT cerfitied because cerfitication costs too much.
There is something wrong with the system when better products are
illegal - a friend of mine found out the hard way, he got a citation and
a fine for wearing his 4point harness on the road.
Oh and as for safe roads in Houston, sorry just as many crazy drivers
here at there were when I left NC.
