One tiny problem with that: I'm not a web developer, I'm a policy wonk.
FWIW, I've always had multiple browsers installed on my desktop (and I
have IE, should an emergency arise). I don't like NS 5.x, because it's
incompatible with some of the internal tools I use (something about the
way Javascript was implemented, I think), so I don't use it.
I also don't think that NS 4.x is so far from "au currant" that web sites
should be completely incompatible with it. Which was my orginal point:
I can't believe the LaTimes site (major site with a wide-ranging audience
whose purpose is *not* to demo the most up-to-date technology) crashes my
browser with NS 4.x. I'd feel differently if it were a site dedicated to
new technology, but the LaTimes should be at least a little bit
backwards-compatible, IMHO.
YMMV, of course, but as a former Web Site manager, I always made sure my
sites were at least two major versions backward compatible.

My brain seems to have a circuit-breaker-like mechanism that, when I get
confused and befuddled by the overwhelming monstrosities of my life,
causes a default to the simplest and most pleasant of thoughts. Like
Marshmallow Peeps. I *like* Marshmallow Peeps.
