I agree, but on the last point, ante-ing up the cost of the doctors
malpractice insurance is fine, but tort reform

would be in order at the same time. The quantity and size of verdicts in
these medical malpractice suits is way out of hand and if my taxpayer dollars
will fund the insurance, that needs to be brought into order. Certainly there
are doctors deserving of these suits, but the current suit level is
ridiculous.

That is why the one payer system in France works. The docs don't need a
gazillion people to run their office. They have a receptionist that makes
appointments, greets patients and prints out reports to stick in files.
Some (busier offices) will have an assistant to get folks to the room and
take their vitals. That's it. The doc does EVERYTHING himself on the
computer.

Now, DH's physician is part way there. He comes in the office and types
everything in the computer. He hits send and if there is blood work needed
it appears at the lab. If an x-ray is needed it appears at the radiologist.
If he needs a prescription (not controlled substances at this time as he
doesn't have an electronic "signature" yet) it appears at the pharmacy of
choice. He doesn't have dictation that needs to be transcribed, he fills in
all the blanks and makes notes as he talks to the patient. Voila, someone
in medical records prints it out and that's that.

If the feds want to *help* doctors and the expense of being a doctor, then
why don't *they* anti-up the malpractice insurance or provide a cheap plan
for the docs? I mean, they insure the banks, why not docs?

Or would that be too simple?
