I hope you are all doing well this winter, spring is just a 'few' weeks away.

A "few" weeks is still a long way away here. It hasn't been any colder or more snowy here than usual, but it seems worse. It's one of those years where winter started early and we didn't get the break of warm weather in December like we often do. My wood stove has been running flat out since early October.

We also got the bitter cold and the snow all at the same time. In recent years, the snow would melt a bit before it snowed again, but this year it just keeps piling up. Trudging through a foot of snow when it's around zero degrees takes it out of you fast. Any little chore seems huge...I wear so many layers that bending my arms takes effort. It took me an hour of fooling around to get the tractor started, and I finally had to jump it. The worst of the cold has passed, at least for now. Maple syrup season is coming up soon, so mud season can't be too far away!
