I wanted to ask you Sue, what is a grow bag?
Those potatoes looked great to me, the perfect size to go with green beans, or boiled and butters with some garlic and roast...mmmm

Well the small potatoes tasted wonderful, were firm with a smooth
consistency, not grainy at all. My ratio to potato was less than
James supposed but I guess anytime you get more than what you plant
you win. I'll harvest more this week and will save some to plant
later in the spring. I'm wondering if they'd stored as well in the
ground as they did in a bag with compost? We get so much rain that I
was afraid they'd rot but the compost was actually wetter than the
ground since we've had beautiful clear weather for the last 7-10
days. Fun to experiment!

One of my favorite dishes as a kid was new potatoes creamed with
peas. As I remember the potatoes were very little larger than peas.

January 20, 2009, 6:35 PM I thought you might get a laugh at the
small potatoes we harvested today! I should have put an egg in
the bowl for size comparison. They are a small variety, can't remember the name but they ranged in size from a pea to a small
egg. I grew them in grow bags with a little compost on the bottom
and then we filled in with straw. The potatoes are from one bag
and all were in the compost at the bottom. If there were any in
the straw they didn't make it. We had snow cover for about 10
days so I was amazed that any survived. This year I'm planting
bigger potatoes in the ground :-)
