LOL - The sand definitely shifts here !  Especially in the haboobs.  Earlier
this year some of the drifting sand along the road/fence lines reminded me of
pictures of the Sahara.  The sand even drifted over the dirt roads here, and
along some of the paved roads too.

I suspect some things are going to remain deflated from their recent peak
prices even in the face of renewed inflation in other areas.

I'm going to continue to stick with the guys that have had superb dead-on
short and long term calls year after year (not just one cycle).

I think the monkey wrench in wide-spread long term deflation is oil, or more
appropriately energy.

Everything you wrote sounds smart, Leslie. I don't know what will happen
with inflation/deflation. If I did, I 'd make a big bet now. The real
price of oil , a year ago, was obviously a fantasy; probably mostly due to
manipulation. The price of oill , today, could be the same manipulated
fantasy.
Oil might still be overpriced , or it might be, now, underpriced. The same
with every other commodity.

I, like you, believe we will have inlation following deflation; but the
deflation could be so severe and long-lasting that the plans for inflation
could
be, for me, without merit. Me and mine could be in the ground before it would
matter. Or, we couls see inlation, and terrible, in a year or two. The smart
money guys I listen to most and who have made the best callls so far, go with
the latter. But, I don't know.....

I am glad you are having pretty weather. Have you noticed how the soil depth
changes when the wind blows heavy , where you now live? Higher eleveated
areas
in the Southern part of New mexico are known for shifting soils and sands. NM
is a beautiful state...................

I should have written that better,,,,, as even back then we were having
inflation effects and loss of purchasing power type conversations.

Because of the effects of inflation on purchasing power, he was stating that
by 1999 middle class needed to earn 80k-100k to have the same purchasing
power as the earlier years of middle class had had to earn to be considered
middle class.

You were quite likely "middle class" many years ago, but government caused
inflation has reduced your purchasing power to the point where you are no
longer middle class, even if your dollar per hour wages have increased since
then.

That's narrow.
By his definition, I wasn't raised in the middle, nor have I ever been
in the middle...lol..

That makes a lot of sense, thanks.
