I have one of each. Well, actually two gauge and one weighted. A neighbor decided I needed to "borrow" her's for awhile so it wouldn't sit in the barn <g> I haven't decided which I like better yet and far as weight vs. gauge. I do like the gauge better as to size. I dont like having to try to reach into the bigger one which is the weighted one.
HOWEVER, I saved up enough money to buy a two burner campstove to put in my canning kitchen so that I can use the cooktop to make up and keep warm whatever I'm canning and then I can can on the campstove which is lower and will be easier to use for use vertically challenged folks.
