What do you mean by "papers from an AKC aligned breeder"? The AKC doesn't recognize the Irish Hunt Terrier.
The Irish and German are generally speaking, black and tan, and relatively easy to tell apart. The Irish, almost without exception have a terrier coat and the Germans generally have a smooth coat, although they can have a wire coat. The German's are more uniform as to breed type and the Irish have an inclination to look more like a mixed breed.

I think that you and I have had this conversation before, Marie. She was sold to us as an "Irish Hunt Terrier", with papers from an AKC aligned breeder. My longtime vet swears she is a "germnan hunt terrier". very similar in appearnace and nature to a Jack Russell Terrier. All brown. Digs like crazy, very stong and muscular front legs. Four years old and 12 1/2 pounds ...............bobford

bark at them until dark. If I had a chicken coop (I've
thought of it). She would never get her 'business'
done outside. She would stand and bark at the chickens
forever. She is not the smartest dog in the world, but she
is pretty...............bobford
