There are staph infections going around that look a lot like spider bites in
my neck of the woods. The only difference is that it never goes to the
blackened necrotized stuff, just a puss filled angry red round around the
edges spot that spreads or goes deeper. I've used raw (unpasturized) honey on
spider bites once they come to a head, before the blackening starts if I find
out about it soon enough, and it worked extremely well, overnight even. it
would work for the staph too, probably. and i used a clay pack moistened with
my all-purpose anti-everything tincture to pull it to a head. we have lots of
brown recluses here, but this winter i'm not seeing as many as i have in the
past. maybe the selective killing of the spiders has helped, at least in the
house. i kill the recluses and leave the hunter spiders, who like to hunt
down the ones i missed. both of my kids have reactions to the recluse bites
and have had 2 each in the 3 years we've lived here. the last one was on my
daughter's forehead because she grabbed her riding helmet from the back room
and just put it on without shaking it out. the one before that was on her
shin from doing the same thing with the half-chaps. sure hopes she learns now
to shake things out before putting them on!

one of the locals told me a slice of raw potatoe tied onto it would draw out
things like splinters and bites, too.
