His lengthy explanation of why he was making the endorsement impressed
me. I was particularly impressed by his making the point that even if
Obama were a Muslim that shouldn't be a problem in the US. That has
really rubbed me the wrong way, having gone through a time when people
assumed a Catholic shouldn't be president.

I think what really got to him was the Palin selection. It's pretty
clear that she's in no way qualified to be president. McCain had
plenty of qualified women to choose from if he had to have a woman,
and he sure had plenty of governors of state's bigger than, say, San
Jose. Plus, she's had no previous interest in anything outside of
Alaska.
